Note that all livery clients are expected to be involved in our coaching program, and are required to be on a membership subscription for weekly coaching.
1. This agreement is between Ashley Marie Robb of 833 Malaghans Road, representing A M Equestrian, and the Owner listed below.
The Owner wishes to engage A M Equestrian to carry out the following services in accordance with this agreement. In consideration of the payments and mutual promises contained in this agreement the company and owner agree as follows:
2. Duties of A M Equestrian
Choose from the following Options:
A. Full Care Livery Service at Shotover Equestrian ($266 per week)
B. Partial Care Livery Service at Shotover Equestrian ($135 per week)
C. Self Care Livery at 833 Malaghans Road ($80 per week)
D. Self Care Livery at Shotover Equestrian until December 31st, 2025 ($90 per week)
(Prices subject to quarterly review)
A. Full Livery Service at Shotover Equestrian Facility
A.1 General inspection – Your horses general wellbeing will be monitored with 1-2x daily visual inspection.
A.2 Rugging – Your horse will be appropriately rugged during his time with us at A M Equestrian. Rugs will go on/off/be changed 1-2x daily as required. Rugs will be managed by A M Equestrian eg storage, drying etc.
A.3 Feeding – The horse will receive hay and hard feed as per our feeding program 1-2x daily as required. Hay and hard feed will be supplied by A M Equestrian but are billed to the owner as additional costs. Alternative feed programs can be fed but must be supplied by the owner made up and ready to feed.
A.4 Farriery – Arranging, holding for, and keeping records for 1x 1hour farriery appointments for the horse per month as required.
A.5 Veterinary – Arranging, holding, and keeping records for 1x 1hour veterinary appointments for the horse per month during working hours as required.
A.6 Additional Care – Providing any additional care such as grooming or owner consultation at a maximum of 1hr per week, with additional required/requested billed at $1 per minute, with a minimum charge of $10
A.7 Manure/Paddock maintenance – Removal or harrowing of manure 6 days per week.
A.8 Paddock – Provide a small paddock with intact and well maintained fencing, with access to fresh water. Damage to fencing or other facilities caused by the horse or Owner beyond normal wear and tear will be billed to the Owner.
A.9 Worming Program – Procurement of, invoicing for, administration of and record keeping of our program for the medical management of intestinal equine parasites.
A.10 Facility Access – Provide access for shared use of the facilities at both Malaghans and Shotover facilities during opening hours, at a minimum of 5 days per week.
Additional: In the case of the horse needing emergency veterinary treatment, all reasonable efforts will be made to notify the owner. A M Equestrian reserves the right to contact a veterinarian on the owners behalf and to authorise any treatment deemed necessary by the vet in order to prevent pain and suffering, including euthanasia in extraordinary circumstances.
Any additional care required/requested billed at $1 per minute, with a minimum charge of $10.
B. Partial Livery Service at Shotover Equestrian
B.1 General inspection – Your horses general wellbeing will be monitored with 1-2x daily visual inspection.
B.2 Rugging – One rug will be removed in the morning and hung on the fence/placed in a rug box provided by the owner next to the gate OR a rug will be put on (not changed) provided that the rug has been left at the paddock by the owner dry and ready to be placed on the horse by A M Equestrian staff. Owner to do evening rugging.
B.3 Feeding – The horse will be given one round bale of hay once per fortnight and hard fed 1x daily as required. Hay to be supplied by the owner as round bales. The horse will be hard fed in the morning only, on our feeding program by default, any alternative feeds and supplements to be provided by the owner pre-prepared and ready to feed off the feed trailer or from a box at the horses paddock. All feed is additional to the livery fee. Evening feeds to be provided and administered by the owner.
B.4 Manure – Providing and managing manure heaps for manure collection by the owner 6 days per week.
B.5 Paddock – Provide a small shared paddock with intact and well maintained fencing, with access to fresh water. Damage to fencing or other facilities caused by the horse or Owner beyond normal wear and tear will be billed to the Owner. (Owner is responsible for general paddock maintenance eg weed control and removal of uneaten hay, rubbish, and other hazards.)
B.6 Worming Program – Procurement of, invoicing for, administration of and record keeping of our program for the medical management of intestinal equine parasites.
B.7 Facility Access – Provide access for shared use of the facilities at both Malaghans and Shotover facilities during opening hours, at a minimum of 5 days per week.

C. DIY Livery Service at A M Equestrian on Malaghans Road
C.1 General inspection – No inspection of the horse shall be taken, the owner is responisble for ensuring their horse is healthy and well daily.
C.2 Rugging – No rugging of the horse shall be provided, the owner is responisble for ensuring their horse is rugged appropriately twice daily.
C.3 Feeding – The horse will be fed one round bale of hay once per fortnight – hay to be provided by the owner as round bales. No hard feeding service is provided, the owner is responisble for ensuring their horse is fed daily with a balanced and nutritious diet.
C.4 Manure – No manure collection service is provided. The owner must muck out their paddock 6 days per week.
C.5 Paddock – Provide a small shared paddock. Damage to fencing or other facilities caused by the horse or Owner beyond normal wear and tear will be billed to the Owner. (Owner is responsible for general paddock maintenance eg weed control and removal of uneaten hay, rubbish, and other hazards.)

3. Duties of the Owner
3.1 The owner shall ensure that the company is provided with all relevant information pertinent to the horses wellbeing and its safe handling for both staff and equine. Including feeding regimen, insurance information and disclosure of any vices of the horses nature that may threaten the safety of A M Equestrians staff, facility or clientele such as kicking or biting other horses or humans, wood chewing or crib biting, windsucking etc.
3.2 The owner shall ensure that the company is provided with or reimbursed for all hay, feed and equipment (eg. Rugs, fly masks, halters, grazing muzzles etc) deemed necessary by the company to ensure the wellbeing of the horse during the term of this agreement.
3.3 The owner agrees that in the event that the company believes the horse is in need of urgent veterinary/farriery care, the company may summon an equine veterinarian and/or farrier or other equine professional and authorise on the owners behalf any essential treatment.
3.4 The owner agrees to comply with all facility policies and procedures for their own safety and the safety of others. This includes complying with the welfare code of the New Zealand Equestrian Federation. The owner acknowledges that any intolerable behaviour to humans or horses by themselves or any accompanying person may result in termination of this agreement.
3.5 The owner will ensure that paddock and facility is kept to a high standard of cleanliness with manure and uneaten hay to be removed daily, with regular removal of weeds and rubbish. Either by employing A M Equestrian to do so on their behalf as a full livery service, or undertaking the task themself. The owner acknowledges that should the paddock fail to be cleaned by noon of the following day that A M Equestrian shall undertake the task and charge accordingly at our over time rate plus associated admin costs at a maximum of three times, after which the client will be automatically placed on Full Livery
3.6 Partial livery clients will ensure that any rugs and feed/supplements outside of our basic feed program required for the horse are pre prepared and readily available for staff to feed out. Eg. Feed/Supplements pre mixed in bucket or in small ziplock bag ready to be fed off the back of the feed trailer, dry rug hanging on fence ready to be put on etc.
3.7 The owner acknowledges and accepts our facility’s 3 strikes and you’re placed on Full Livery policy, wherein after 3 occasions of us needing to provide unscheduled over time hours for any service they will automatically be placed onto Full Livery and charged accordingly, for example, repeat instances of us needing to poo pick paddocks that haven’t been done for multiple days.
3.8 All horses over the age of 3 years are required to be lightly exercised at a minimum of 4 times per week either by their owners or as pre-arranged staff rides. With the exception of animals resting on vets orders.
3.9 All livery clients are expected to be involved in our coaching program, and are required to be on a membership subscription for weekly coaching.
3.10 All new horses arriving onto the property are to be quarantined for 2 weeks upon arrival, as well as be drenched for internal and external parasites at the owners expense.
3.11 Owners are to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation of the facility at all times, this includes removal of rubbish and manure from all parts of the facility on the same day (including laneways etc) and keeping their own personal areas well maintained and tidy. All gear, hay, etc is to be stored inside a tidy and well maintained structure. Floats to be parked neatly in the area designated by A M Equestrian.
4. Terms of payment and financial matters
4.1 Fees – The weekly fee of the agreed amount outlined in section 1 will be auto debited from the owners account through our secure online payment platform.
4.2 Additional costs – Will be billed to owner. To include costs accrued from provision of hard feed, hay, parasite control treatments, emergency veterinary and farriery costs as well as any time spent by the company providing additional care and consultancy.
4.3 The owner agrees to make prompt payment within 30 days for any monies owing to the company or other service provider accrued in accordance with this agreement.
4.4 Unpaid dues – In the event that incurred costs remain unpaid over an extended period of time the owner is aware that the horse may be retained or sold in lieu of payment with the owner receiving the balance. Following the delivery of a written notice, the owner will no longer be permitted onto the property.
5. Term and Termination – This agreement shall continue until such time that either:
5.A One party gives 30 days notice to terminate the agreement.
or
5.B The company terminates the agreement prematurely on the grounds of unsafe or inhumane behaviour from the owner, or following the delivery of 3 or more warnings following breach of facility policies and procedures.
All Self care livery at Shotover options have a termination date of Decemer 31st 2025, unless terminated prior under conditions 5.A or 5.B above, or extended by agreement of both parties.
6. General
6.1 Amendments – No amendment of the terms of the agreement shall be valid or binding unless made in writing between and signed by both the company and the owner.
6.2 This agreement shall in all respects be governed by and construed in accordance to the New Zealand law and jurisdiction of the courts.
In every day speak:
– Full livery clients do not need to provide any care for their horse except exercise, or engaging AME to exercise the horse on their behalf.
– All livery clients are expected to be involved in our coaching program, and are required to be on a membership subscription for weekly coaching.
– All clients have shared access to both facilities during opening hours.
Partial livery clients:
Feed Prep – Partial livery clients will need to prepare and leave any special feed/supplements not carried by us as standard at the paddock measured up in a bucket/container/ziplock bag ready for our staff to feed at dinner time.
Rugging – we provide a morning rug on OR off service to Partial livery clients. Clients need to leave the rug they would like their horse to wear dry and ready to go at their paddock. A M Equestrian staff take no responsibility for storage/drying/bringing to the paddock etc of rugs for partial livery clients. Clients to ensure their rugs are well maintained and waterproof.
Paddock and Facility Maintenance – Partial and self care livery clients need to pick up their horses manure and uneaten/soiled hay 6 days per week, as well as remove weeds and any rubbish or other hazards. Any paddocks not cleaned by the owner for more than 48 hours will be picked up by our staff and charged at our over time rate. 3x repeat incidences will see the client automatically placed onto Full Livery in the interest of horse welfare. All clients are expected to leave all facilities clean and tidy after use.
Farriery – Partial and self care livery clients need to book and attend their own farriery appointments. Note that farriery cost is greater if the farrier is only coming for one horse, it will be more affordable to tag into our existing appointments if you let Barton Blacksmiths know you are at the same location.
*Feed, drench, farriery and veterinary costs etc are billed as additional.
